2019 begins with five newly self-published works in print over the last year: LUX: The Dawn From On High, Gloria in Excelsis (from LUX), Non Nobis, Domine, i thank you God for most this amazing day, and The Sun Never Says. Several new pieces are slated for publication throughout the year, including concert works published by The Music of Dan Forrest as well as church anthems published by Beckenhorst Press.

January 2019 marks the first release of Dan’s music on a major record label: The Sun Never Says is included on VOCES8’s new album, Enchanted Isle, on the Decca label.

LUX: The Dawn From On High is continuing to grow in visibility, with its Carnegie Hall premiere in February 2019, and numerous performances lining up in the US and around the world. Dan’s other two major works, Requiem for the Living and Jubilate Deo continue to be widely performed in the choral community as well.

Upcoming commissions and premieres include smaller works for Baylor University (premiered Christmas 2019), Methodist College (Belfast, Ireland; premiered spring 2019), a work for the US Air Force Academy band (premiered spring 2019), a new multi-movement work for Bel Canto (Greensboro, NC) to be premiered in October 2019, a medium length work for Teatro Cucinelli (Italy) (to be premiered in early 2020), and other smaller works for churches and universities.

Dan will teach again for the John Ness Beck Foundation Choral Composers’ Workshop in Greenville SC in summer 2019.

Thanksgiving week 2019, a full concert of Dan’s Christmas carol settings and other Christmas works will be performed in Carnegie Hall for the first time.
